OH parent wants 'satanic' blue devils mascot changed

HOLLAND, OH (WTOL) - One parent in the Springfield School District is starting a petition drive to change the blue devils mascot.

Julie Elrod says the district's motto is "Exceptional Without Exception," so the school should use something more excellent like a conqueror, a knight or a crusader. She believes the blue devil has satanic overtones and could be a bad influence. "It used to be a cartoon, but it has evolved to something evil-looking," she said.
