...The Indiana House has opened its 2007 session with an official prayer that was carefully crafted so as not to violate a federal judge's ban on sectarian invocations. The brief prayer by new House Speaker Patrick Bauer was directed to "almighty God" but contained no specific references to Christianity. Judge David Hamilton ruled in November 2005 that official House prayers that mentioned Jesus Christ or used terms such as "Savior" amounted to state endorsement of a religion. That case is now on appeal before the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. State Representative Brian Bosma, who was speaker at the time of the ruling, has argued that Hamilton's ruling is unconstitutional because it blocks the free exercise of religion. [AP]

You most likely hold to TULIP and are sceptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die. |
